Essentially speaking : feminism, nature and difference
In this book Diana Fuss takes on the debate of pure essence versus social construct, engaging with the work of Luce Irigaray and Monique Wittig, Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Houston Baker, and with the politics of gay identity. Using a feminist poststructruralist perspective she adresses the strenghts and limitations of both essentialsm and contructionism, reassessing and recasting these terms in ways that make them more complex and more useful.
